Thousands of K-State fans gathered in the parking lot of Bill Snyder Family Stadium Friday morning, to witness the dedication of the 75 million dollar, West Stadium Center. The dedication featured several speakers including, Governor Sam Brownback, Head Coach Bill Snyder and K-State President, Kirk Shultz. The cast of ABC’s hit show Modern Family, including K-State Alumnus, Eric Stone Street, also made an appearance via video. A statue of Bill Snyder was also unveiled during the dedication ceremony.

The Riley County Police Department is investigating a kidnapping case that occurred Thursday night. The kidnapping and aggravated assault case took place on the 500 block of Moro between a male suspect and victim. Detectives are in the process of locating the victim as of Friday morning. The kidnapping was reported to the police by a citizen that does not have a connection to either suspect or victim. KMAN will provide additional details as they are available.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach says Nevada has joined a program in which states compare voter registration records annually, bringing the number participating to 25. The Voter Registration Crosscheck Program is designed to identify people who are registered in two or more states and people who cast ballots in more than one state. Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska launched it in 2005, and it’s been expanding since. Kobach and Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller jointly announced Nevada’s participation Thursday. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Four public libraries have been selected as pilot sites for a Wi-Fi network project being coordinated by the State Library of Kansas. The Kansas City K-20 Librarians Initiative is part of the national Gigabit Libraries Network’s super Wi-Fi project. It involves a four-month test of TV White Space Technology which will deliver public library Internet access to remote locations in the communities. The public libraries taking part are located in Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka and Kansas City, Kan. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Community activists are planning what they’re calling a worker justice march in Wichita this weekend to protest what they say is a lack of quality jobs in the area. Sunflower Community Action, the Black Arts Festival and labor groups are staging Saturday’s march and rally focusing on low-income workers. The event begins at 11 a.m. at 17th and Hillside streets in Wichita and ends at McAdams Park where multiple speakers are expected to address the crowd.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) The driver of the school bus that overturned in Bonner Springs last week has been released from the hospital. Elmer Scott Jr. was the most seriously injured of those who were hurt when the bus went off Kansas Highway 7 on Aug. 21. He was driving sixth-grade girls from The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City to a camp in Linwood, Kan., when the bus went off the right side of the road and tipped over. Twenty-two students were taken to hospitals but none were seriously injured. KMBC-TV reports the crash remains under investigation.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Work is expected to begin soon on a highway project in Lawrence that has been debated since the early 1990s. The Kansas Department of Transportation is scheduled to award bids for the South Lawrence Trafficway on Sept. 18, and construction is expected to begin by mid-October or November. The $190 million project has been stalled by protests and lawsuits for more than 20 years.
