(AP) Abortion opponents are preparing to deliver a rezoning petition to the Wichita City Council, aiming to block the opening of a clinic at the building once owned by slain abortion provider George Tiller. Kansans for Life planned to present the document to the council Tuesday. The group says thousands of residents have signed the petition, saying they don’t want an abortion clinic in the neighborhood. Fake Patty’s Day, or “green break”, was the main discussion item during Tuesday’s Aggieville Business Association meeting. Due to the success of last year’s event, the Riley County Police intend to take many of the same precautions this year.  Officers will be taking 12 hour shifts each, and will be patrolling not only the Aggieville area, but the surrounding residential areas as well. A local hardware store has reported the theft of a large piece of equipment to the Riley County Police Department. According to police the Waters True Value store on Poyntz avenue is reporting  a large metal frame for a greenhouse missing from their back lot.  Police say the theft allegedly occurred sometime between the 1 October, 2012 and 31 January , 2013. With a Super Bowl already on his resume, K-State senior associate athletic director Reid Sigmon has been named the chief financial officer of the new college football playoff and national championship game.  Sigmon will begin his new job on April 22nd at the group’s new headquarters in Dallas alongside chief operating officer Michael Kelly and BCS executive director Bill Hancock, who announced the move.  Sigmon will be a senior leader on a staff that will have operational responsibility for the playoff and championship game. The new Justice Center in Westmoreland was yet again the central topic of Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting as a work session was scheduled. The purpose behind the work session was to examine a few issues not covered in the original bid documents.
