(Kansas State Athletics) – Kansas State junior defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah was one of nine defensive players across the country to be named a semifinalist for the 2022 Lott IMPACT Trophy, the award’s organization has announced. The Lott IMPACT Trophy, now in its 19th year, goes to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an IMPACT on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. Three area teams will take the field Friday night in the KSHSAA high school football playoffs, bidding to move into the state semifinals in a week. In 6A, Manhattan High will meet Wichita Northwest for the second time in four weeks. The Indians claimed a 56-28 win over 4th ranked Wichita Northwest on October 21. (Kansas State Athletics) – K-State Athletics officials announced Thursday that the Wildcats’ Senior Day contest on November 26 – the Dillons Sunflower Showdown against Kansas – is sold out as all available standing-room only tickets have been purchased. Thursday’s announcement gives K-State a sellout for all seven home games this season, the first time the Wildcats have played in front of capacity crowds in every home game since 2016. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Kansas City, Kansas, police officers shot and killed a man after he fired at them, the department said Wednesday. Officers were investigating a report of a stolen car early Wednesday when they saw a “suspicious” car, according to a statement from the department. The officers found an unresponsive man with drug paraphernalia and a weapon inside the car, according to the statement.
