Officers filed a report for aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in the 4200 block of Spook Rock Way in Manhattan on August 14, 2019, at approximately 10:00 AM. WICHITA — Authorities say a Kansas sheriff’s deputy who is a suspect in a felony investigation is no longer in the U.S. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the department is no longer seeking the public’s help in locating 29-year-old Derick Chandler, who worked for the department. The post didn’t say where he was believed to be located. The department said previously that Chandler disappeared after Wellington police and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office identified him as a suspect in a jointly investigated case. GARDEN CITY — Tyson officials say a spark from welding during maintenance is the likely cause of a fire that damaged the company’s plant in Holcomb. Tyson representatives met Wednesday with state and other government officials to discuss Friday night’s fire, which caused extensive damage. No one was injured. KWCH reports the company reaffirmed its commitment to rebuild the plant and reopen it as quickly as possible. Company officials said the fire damaged a small area but affected critical operating systems. Hy-Vee is investigating after detecting a data breach on some of its payment processing systems, according to a Wednesday release. Company officials believe that the “unauthorized activity” was centered on transactions at some Hy-Vee fuel pumps, drive-thru coffee shops and restaurants including Market Grilles. Due to differences in the point-of-sale systems, transactions at normal grocery checkout lanes, pharmacies, clinics and Aisles Online purchases are not believed to be impacted. According to the release, the investigation is in its initial stages and they have no information on which locations nor what time frame the breach occurred. Riley County EMS was recently awarded the 2019 career EMS service of the year from the Kansas EMS Services Association. Dave Lindstrom is the board chair of the Kansas Turnpike Authority and owned and operated multiple Burger King locations around the KC area. Two students from Kansas will have the opportunity to travel to Asia to represent the state in a week-long agriculture exchange program in late October. The 2019 Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange program is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Agriculture as well as Kansas 4-H and FFA.
