(AP) CLEVELAND — A die-hard fan of mixed-martial arts, Indians catcher Yan Gomes wore a T-shirt following Sunday’s game with “Throat Punch” written on the front. The clothing choice was fitting. Cleveland blasted Kansas City with all it had. According to a release from K-State Athletics, Kansas State women’s soccer registered an opportune goal in the first half and kept Oral Roberts at arm’s length defensively to record its first win of the 2017 season and end a three-match road trip with a 1-0 decision at Case Soccer Complex on Thursday night. The win was the third road win in program history and the first since Sept. 4, 2016 at Omaha. K-State Athletics has partnered with SIDEARM Sports on an improved full digital platform, including a new k-statesports.com, in addition to collaborating with ESPN3 to add exposure and accessibility of live Wildcat sporting events to K-State fans across the country. That’s according to a release from K-State Athletics. Highlighting the new ESPN3 agreement is the September 2 football opener with Central Arkansas, which will now be streamed live exclusively on ESPN3, produced by K-StateHD.TV. Duffy and four relievers combined on a two-hitter, helping the Kansas City Royals hold off the Colorado Rockies 3-2 on Tuesday night. According to K-State Athletics, for the second time in the last four years, Kansas State was ranked in the Preseason Associated Press Top 25 as the Wildcats are 20th in the preseason survey released Monday. K-State, which was also ranked 20th in the 2014 Preseason AP Top 25, was placed 19th in the 2017 Preseason Amway Coaches Poll released on August 3.
