On the same day a 60 day sentence was handed down in a DUI case that resulted in two deaths, another man was sentenced to about three years with the Kansas Department of corrections for a DUI that resulted in three people being injured.
Kansas State student Corey Monley was 18 when he was driving a vehicle that side swiped another vehicle and entered oncoming traffic, striking a third vehicle head on. That accident occurred in November of last year in the 800 block of Bluemont.
Monley was sentenced by Judge Stutzman Monday In Riley County District Court’s Division III to the three aggravated battery felonies, with 32 months each to two of the counts and eight months on the other to be served concurrently. A six month sentence for DUI is consecutive.
A hearing has been set in December to set terms of probation.
Injured in the November accident were 26 year old Jeanette Galan, two year old Bella Lara, and 19 year old Stephanie Mendoza, all of Manhattan.
