The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
MANHATTAN, KAN. –
Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Anderson Ave. and Anneberg Dr. on October 21, 2020, at approximately 4:29 p.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2008 Jeep Wrangler driven by Todd Aeverman, 39, of Manhattan had driven into oncoming traffic and struck a 1994 Dodge Ram driven by David Shurle, 63, of Manhattan, then struck a 2019 Nissan Rogue driven by Brandi Fink, 38, of Manhattan. Aeverman was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries and was issued a citation for driving on the wrong side of the road.
