Though the Pottawatomie County Commissioners spent Monday doing the regular business items that make up their agenda, their audience was a little different.
As part of a government lesson, 3rd and 4th graders were present to witness firsthand the workings of a government body.
The students sat through department updates including that of Tim Eisenbarth, director of the Noxious Weed Department and Betty Abitz, register of deeds. Each had some data that they wished to present to the commission about how well their departments are doing.
The commission also has an update on the new EMS building as the design was officially finalized and the bid notice will be published within the next couple of days. The date has been changed from October 29 to November 5 to open the bids for the new design.
There was also an opportunity for the commission to take a tour of the current conditions of the Justice Center. At their meeting next week, the commission will be deciding on the color of carpet and paint.
