MANHATTAN, Kansas (K-State Athletics) – Following an unbeaten second week of the season, K-State saw a pair of players collect Big 12 weekly league honors. Sophomore goalkeeper Murphy Sheaff was named Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, while freshman forward Jo Sees was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week in an announcement by the league office on Wednesday.

In addition to her Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honor, Sheaff was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Sheaff is the first Wildcat goalkeeper to be named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. She is the third Wildcat netminder to earn Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Sees is the fifth K-State player to be named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week and is the first since Sophie Harlan earned the distinction in October of 2022.

For the week, Sheaff was 1-0-1 with four saves while facing 17 total shots and adding her second and third shutouts to her ledger this season. With the pair of shutouts, Sheaff owns an active streak and a school record 350:17 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.

Against UTSA, Sheaff helped the Wildcats to their first home-opening win since 2018 with two saves while facing eight shots.

Against Creighton on Sunday, Sheaff kept the Bluejays off the board with two saves while facing nine shots.

Sheaff is tied for second in program history for shutouts in a sophomore season with three. The product of Sunshine Coast, Australia, leads the Big 12 and ranks second in the nation for shutouts this season. She is second in the Big 12 for save percentage (.909) and goals against average (0.25).

Sees made her presence felt while helping to keep the Wildcats unbeaten for a second straight week.

For the week, Sees saw action in both matches and registered a goal and an assist while playing 47 total minutes.
A forward from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Sees subbed into Thursday’s match against UTSA at the 40th minute of the match. Just 33 seconds later, she tapped in a rebound to give K-State a 1-0 lead. Her goal would eventually be the game-winner, the first of her career. 37 seconds after the goal, Sees assisted on K-State’s second goal of the night.

With her goal, Sees became the sixth K-State freshman in program history to score two or more goals in their debut season.

For the season, Sees is tied for the team lead in goals with two and leads the squad in points with five. Her five points are tied for the fourth-most in a freshman season in program history.

K-State returns to action on Thursday night, as the Wildcats visit Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. Thursday’s match will air on SEC Network+.

The Wildcats return to Buser Family Park on Sunday night at 8 p.m., as K-State hosts Nebraska. Sunday’s match is a Wildcat Weekend, as fans can purchase a ticket for just $5 at the Buser Family Park ticket window when showing their football ticket from Saturday night’s game against Southeast Missouri State.
