It took several hours for some northwest Manhattan Westar Energy customers to get their power back Monday evening.
Problems were first reported shortly after 5 p.m. with 300 customers not having electricity restored until 9:30. Just under 15-hundred customers were initially impacted, with that number dropping to 300 by 7:15 p.m.
Westar spokesman Shane Batchelder tells KMAN the problem was caused by a transmission line that came loose, falling into another line beneath it on the West side of Seth Child Road and South of Marlatt.
Batchelder says multiple repairs were necessary, with assistance provided by crews in Salina and Topeka.
