Ervin Santana could be traded before the end of the month, and his superb effort Friday might make some teams interested.
Santana allowed two singles in 7 1/3 innings and the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 1-0 on Friday night to snap a five-game losing streak. Santana didn’t allow a runner to reach second base as he walked just one batter and struck out six Tigers. The third-place Royals are seven games behind the first-place Tigers.
The lone run of the game came in the first inning off an RBI single by Billy Butler. Game two of the three game series this afternoon as Justin Verlander will be on the mound for Detroit and the Royals will counter with Jeremy Guthrie. First pitch from Kauffman Stadium on Saturday is 6:10 pm and the game can be heard on Sports Radio 1350 KMAN.
