Nearly 1,200 community members visited Manhattan’s 26-acre Sunset Zoo on Saturday, August 2 for Murdock Manhattan’s Water Safari and Kids’ Free Day. Children received free admission all day long and guests enjoyed Water Safari activities throughout the afternoon. The Manhattan Fire Department was on grounds with one of their trucks, cooling off guests with an aerial hose. Guests also enjoyed family-friendly activities Zoo-wide including a wee ones water area, splash zones and more.

Sunset Zoo’s animal ambassadors also made an appearance for free Zoo Ambassador Programs featuring live animal encounters. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers greeted Zoo guests with water safety tips and water safety bingo. Community members were also treated to special water-themed keeper chats and animal feedings at several of the exhibits throughout the afternoon.

Promotional sponsorship for Water Safari was presented by Murdock Manhattan and Manhattan Broadcasting’s 1350 KMAN, B104.7, KROCK 101.5 and Z96.3.
