The Big 12 Conference named K-State senior Tramaine Thompson as its special teams player of the week following his performance in the Cats’ 48-27 win over Louisiana on Saturday night. Thompson amassed 234 all-purpose yards, with 94 in kick returns, 94 in punt returns and 46 receiving. The Jenks, OK native took back the second half kickoff from the Ragin’ Cajuns 94 yards for a touchdown, had a 79-yard punt return that set up a one-yard plunge by Jake Waters, and caught two passes for 46 yards.
With the kickoff-return score, Thompson became the third player in school history to have rushing, receiving, punt return and kickoff return touchdowns during their careers. Mack Herron and Yamon Figurs were the others.
K-State will conlcude non-conference play this Saturday when they host UMass at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Kickoff is 6:10pm, and Powercat Gameday starts at 2:00pm from the new Cat Town on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN.
