Injuries finally caught up with the 3A #1 Riley County girls as Silver Lake knocked off the Falcons 50-44 on Saturday night in the substate finals at St. Marys.  Riley County lost three starters this season including Makayla Vargo in the substate semifinals on Friday night, along with Bree Busch and Morgan Godinet.  Silver Lake built a small lead in the second quarter, and never gave it up the rest of the way, making 18 of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter.  Mackenzie Freeman scored 18 points and Perry Krogman had 14 points for the Eagles.  The Falcons were led by 18 points from Kelly Thomson and 13 points from Rachel Rheaume.

The Riley County girls end the season at 22-1, while Silver Lake will be the #5 seed in the 3A state tournament at Hutchinson.  The Eagles will play #4 seed Garden Plain on Thursday night.
