In a shocking development with inconvenient timing, Kansas State Senior forward Jamar Samuels did not play in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament game against Syracuse at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Numerous reports indicate that Samuels was suspended for the game after a supposed wire transfer of money from a former coach came to light on Friday. The decision to sit Samuels reportedly was made by officials from the K-State Athletic Department and not by head coach Frank Martin.
The Wildcats without one of their two Senior leaders, lost to Syracuse 75-59 in the Third Round of the NCAA tournament and saw their season end with a 22-11 record.
Martin said after the game he was disappointed that he would not be able to coach Samuels again and emphasized that he was not part of the decision to hold him out of the game.
