John Szefc is leaving his post as K-State associate head baseball coach to become the new head coach at Maryland.  He inherits a Terrapin program that went 32-24 overall last season, but finished just 10-20 in the ACC.  Szefc has become a head coach for the second time in his career. He led Marist to 212 wins from 1996 until 2002, and the Red Foxes went to NCAA Regionals in 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2002.  Following his stint at Marist, Szefc was a hitting coach/recruiting coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2003 to 2008.  He spent two years at Kansas before coming to K-State for two seasons.  Szefc played collegeiately at UConn and Drexel, where he was an all-East Coast Conference performer in 1989.
