The Kansas Department of Transportion has released this advisory:
For K-State fans heading to Manhattan for this Saturday’s (August 30) Home Football Game, please take note of the following construction projects and traffic impacts that may impact your game day commute. Drivers should expect some delays through the active project work zones and should allow plenty of extra time for their game day commutes.
I-70 > > > From Topeka west to Manhattan
I-70 from 1st Street to 4th Street Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014
EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound I-70 traffic will be shifted and placed side by side with ONE LANE in each direction on the existing eastbound I-70 lanes for bridge repair and resurfacing work beginning at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, June 9 through December 2014. Eastbound I-70 traffic will be reduced to one lane from just west of the 1st Street exit ramp to the 4th Street entrance ramp. Westbound I-70 traffic will be reduced to one lane from just east of the Indiana Avenue Bridge to just west of the 1st Street exit ramp. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014.
I-70 at SW 10th Street Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014
24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound I-70 right lanes over the Southwest 10th Street Bridge are CLOSED for pavement reconstruction work, 24/7 round the clock, which began on July 21. Once pavement work is completed in the right lanes, then traffic will be switched and the left lanes will be closed. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014.
U.S. 24 > > > From Topeka west to Manhattan
U.S. 24 & Menoken Road Interchange Project (Shawnee County)
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014
24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 from Countryside Road to east of Menoken Road have now been shifted onto the NEW westbound lanes, placed side by side with one lane in each direction, and will remain in this traffic configuration beginning on Monday, July 21 through early fall 2014. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2014.
U.S. 24 Bridge Replacement Project in St. Marys (Pottawatomie County)
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014
TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 from First Street to Grand Avenue in St. Marys is one lane each direction (normal configuration) and has been shifted slightly for bridge replacement work that beganon Monday, June 23 Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014.
U.S. 24 Bridge Replacement Project in Belvue (Pottawatomie County)
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014
SHOOFLY DETOUR: Eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 over the Deep Creek drainage area bridge approximately 1.05 miles east of Broadway Street in Belvue is one lane each direction (normal configuration) utilizing a shoofly detour for bridge replacement work that beganon May 20. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014.
