Wamego’s USD 320 approved a resolution to refinance the District’s 2009 Bond. At Monday’s meeting, Wichita based Bond Counsel, Gilmore & Bell’s Kevin Cowan reviewed the refinance opportunity of the District’s 2009 Bond which would save the District over $115,000. After going over the specifics of the financing, a motion was made to authorize the offering for sale of General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2016 of the USD 320 School District. Cowan said the District could still back out if the timing turns out to be wrong by the time the paperwork is completed.

In other business, the Board authorized Superintendent Denise O’Dea to move forward with the West Elementary Playground water issues after the presentation by citizen and parent Bryan Padgett’s proposal that could save the District over $100,000.

The Board also agreed by a motion (6 to 0) to contact the Archdiocese and inform them the District could find no used for the former church building. They also agreed the District Office would move into the Rectory, and Special Services would be moving into the former Education Building on the Poplar Street Campus. A motion passed by a vote of 5 to 1, with Amy Schwein opposed. Their plan is to be move by the end of May. This would require the Rectory to be vacated by April 15th. The Board also agreed to focus on the Central Kitchen needs of the District’s Food Service.
