Royals 1B Eric Hosmer was announced as an American League Silver Slugger Award winner on Thursday. The award honors the best offensive player at each position in each league. Hosmer posted a .318 batting average and .882 OPS with 25 home runs and 94 RBIs while playing in all 162 games for Kansas City this past season.

He’s the first Royals’ 1st baseman to win a Silver Slugger award since George Brett in 1988.
