Manhattan Optimist Club to hold annual spaghetti feed

Spaghetti is on the menu for this Saturday, and better yet, you don’t have to cook it!

The Manhattan Optimist Club is welcoming back their annual spaghetti feed. Club member, Jim Franke, says this is their 12th annual spaghetti feed, but their first one since 2019 due to the pandemic. He says it is a great fundraiser that supports a number of their initiatives.

“Most of the proceeds will go towards supporting out activities out at Optimist Park which is on the west side of town. That’s where we run the city T-ball program and we also have a girls fastpitch association that holds its practices out there.”

He says in addition to that, they also support roughly 25 programs in the community, including athletics, art programs such as Early Expressions Kids Art Fair, and even classroom programs.

“We have one called, ‘Youth of the Month’ which recognizes students in the primary grades one through five, and then ‘Student of the Month’ which focuses upon Manhattan High kids.”

The spaghetti feed is one of the largest fundraisers for the Manhattan Optimist Club. The meal will include, spaghetti, meat and meatless sauce, salad, bread, dessert, and a drink. They will also hold a silent auction at the event as well.

The spaghetti feed is set for 5 to 8 PM at Pottorf Hall at CiCo Park. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7.50 for adults, $4.00 for kids 12 and under, and kids four and under eat free.
