The Kansas Department of Education’s Sunflower Summer program kicks off Friday.
Flint Hills Discovery Center Marketing Coordinator Deanna Likes said this program allows Kansas students to attend multiple attractions state-wide at no cost to them.
Each child and up to two adult caretakers will be provided one-time, free admission to each participating location.
Sunset Zoo Marketing Development Officer Melissa Kirkwood said Sunflower Summer is meant to encourage fun and educational tourism.
In addition to the Discovery Center and Sunset Zoo, Manhattan’s Midwest Dream Car Collection is included in this year’s program as well.
Kirkwood said Sunflower Summer will also offer more than just admission to local attractions.
The program runs from May 26th through August 13th.
