    The League of Women’s Voters held two candidate forums at the Public Library. This is the first of the two featuring Manhattan City Commission candidates.

    Time stamps below indicate when in the audio questions are asked of the candidates, who then self identify before providing their 90 second responses to each question. Opening and closing statements aren’t included in the time stamps. The rotation of responses in question 1 was Susan Adamchak, Mark Hatesohl, Rafael Rodriguez, John Matta, Karen McCulloh, Rosemary Crumly-Loucks and Peter Oppelt. For each additional question, the rotation moved to the next in the aforementioned list, with each candidate getting the opportunity to be the first and last respondent.

    50:15     Question 4: Manhattan has experienced relatively flat population growth. What can the city do to influence the trend of population growth?

    1:02:21   Question 5 How do you feel about civic engagement, encouraging continued interest, especially among younger people?

    1:13:28   Budget question from audience member: Which strategies would you use to make spending and taxing decisions?

    1:24:01   Roads and sidewalks are inferior, according to one audience member. What is your response?
