Manhattan girls’ wrestling takes 3rd at regionals, sending seven to state

Junction City, KS – With 10 wrestlers, Manhattan girls’ wrestling put on an impressive performance and finished in 3rd place at Saturday’s 6A-5A regionals.

The Tribe qualified seven for state. The most in program history. Heading to state for MHS will be Alexis Haeusler (110#), Kayla Cramer (120#) Evelyn Thornburg (125#), TT Young (135#), Alayna Slifer (140#), Sophia Hoeme (145#), Sage Rosario (155#). Freshman Kayla Cramer and junior Sage Rosario earned individual regional titles. For Rosario, the 3rd in her high school career.

Three Centennial League teams finished in top four places. League champions Washburn Rural won the event with 227 points. Wichita’s Kapaun Mt. Carmel took 2nd with 159 points. Manhattan in 3rd with 144 points and Emporia in 4th with 121 points.

6A-5A State is February 22-24 in Park City, KS.
