With the recent decision of Kenny Titus to run for the State Senate, a Wabaunsee County native announced his intentions to run for the open seat.
Eli Kormanik announced his candidacy on Wednesday to run in the 51st district legislative seat which encompasses East Manhattan to Wamego and rural Pottawatomie County.
A life long resident of the county and Alta Vista, Kormanik graduated from Council Grove High School and recently interned at the Kansas State House and for Congressman Tracey Mann.
Kormanik says he believes in reducing the size of government.
He says he is also passionate about reducing the size of government and allowing people to have more freedom over what they do with their lives. He also says he’s passionate about lowering taxes and on education.
He spoke about the recent vetoes by Gov. Laura Kelly of three tax bills.
Komanik also outlined his plan for the campaign.
He is the second person to announce his candidacy for the seat. Megan Steele of Manhattan has also announced her candidacy.
