Wamego softball wins second straight 4A state championship

Just like Wamego boys golf earlier this week, Red Raider softball ran it back. Back-to-back years, Wamego has won the 4A state title in Salina.

In today’s semifinals, Wamego beat Eudora 2-0. Junior Peyton Hardenburger, coming off a 17 inning complete game, tossed a 16 strikeout no-hitter. Arrabel Razzano was responsible for driving in the game-winning run.

In the title game Friday night, the Red Raiders completed their run with a 5-0 victory over Andale. And guess what…Hardenburger cast another complete game no-hitter.

Hardenburger tossed every pitch in the three-game state tournament. Her final stat line: 31 innings pitched, one earned run, three hits, 63 strikeouts.

Wamego finishes the season with a record of 25-4.
