A high-speed case ended in Blue Rapids Friday morning as law enforcement officers sought an “armed and dangerous” Manhattan man.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the man is believed to have been involved in a string of burglaries. He allegedly stole his grandmother’s car and a handgun.
A Marshall County officer pursued the man, whom officials have not yet identified, and eventually he abandoned his vehicle and ran away. Local law enforcement, aided by a KHP helicopter, established a perimeter and initiated a search. With a tip from a citizen, officers found the suspect hiding in trees and bushes near Riverside Park in Blue Rapids. They apprehended him with no further incident.
