Nearly 1,300 people — some dressed as turkeys — bundled up and flocked to Aggieville Thursday morning to begin their Thanksgiving Day celebrations with a jaunt about town.

The ninth annual MHK Turkey Trot 5K race kicked off shortly after 9 a.m., leading 1,278 runners and walkers from Moro Street in Aggieville through City Park, east on Poyntz Avenue to Manhattan Town Center and back again.

Temperatures in Manhattan were right around 30 degrees Fahrenheit when the race began.
