Officials want K-State to be more walkable. That was a major theme of a presentation on the university’s master plan earlier this week.

K-State officials said Tuesday they’re looking at closing some roads, such as parts of Martin Luther King Drive and College Heights Road, which would connect Anderson Hall and Ahearn Field House.

“We are trying to take away some of the roadways in the middle of the campus, so Mid-Campus Drive in the middle of Anderson Hall, removing that,” said Neal Kessler, the senior principal of the planning firm SmithGroup. “Removing MLK and College Heights in front of Ahearn, to sort of bring that into campus, taking the last stretch of Mid-Campus drive and pulling that out as well.”
