Once again, K-State men’s basketball has quietly recruited and added another player out of the transfer portal. 6’3” Akron shooting guard Nate Johnson announced on social media Easter Sunday that he has committed to K-State.

Johnson’s recruitment was a quick one. Entering the portal on April 17 and quickly generated attention from programs like KU, Kentucky, and Indiana.
This is a huge addition to the roster for Jerome Tang. As he picks up a player that just earned many accolades like MAC Player of the Year and MAC Defensive Player of the Year. For his junior season at Akron, Johnson averaged 14 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game. While shooting 44% from the floor and 30% from three. Johnson scored in double figures 26 times this season Including a career high 31 points against Toledo in the MAC Tournament.
Johnson led Akron to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons. Also, winning the MAC regular season and tournament championships this season.
According to 247Sports, Johnson is a four-star and the 56th best player available in the transfer portal.
Johnson becomes the 5th addition to K-State’s 2025 class. Joining transfers Tyreek Smith, Abdi Bashir and Khamari McGriff. Plus, high schooler commit Exavier Wilson.
