Wildcats Top Pacific, 9-3, to Earn Series Win

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State jumped on Pacific early with seven runs over the first two innings, and the Wildcats received another quality start from senior Kayvon Bahramzadeh as the Wildcats defeated Pacific, 9-3, Sunday afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium.

K-State evened its record at 5-5 with the win and came back to take the series after falling to the Tigers in Friday’s home opener. Pacific fell to 2-10 on the season.

For the second-straight game, the Wildcats registered the double-digit mark in hits with 11 and totaled their fourth and fifth multi-run innings in the last two days by scoring five runs in the first and two in the second. K-State scored at least one run over the first four innings, its longest streak to open a game since scoring in the first five frames against Grambling State in the 2010 NCAA Fayetteville Regional.

The Wildcats were paced offensively by Wade Hinkle, who tied his career high with three hits while driving in a pair of runs. The senior first baseman recorded RBI singles in both the first and second innings, and he followed with a double in the fourth before walking and being hit by a pitch in his final two at-bats.
