K-State volleyball in preseason top 25 for first time in three years

By KMAN Staff on August 14, 2012 K-State Sports

Starting where they ended last season, the K-State volleyball team checks in at #22 in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches’ Association top 25.  The Cats vaulted into the final poll last season after an upset of then #2 Nebraska, and a trip to the Sweet 16 in Hawaii.  All seven starters return for K-State including preseason all-Big 12 selections Kaitlynn Pelger, Lilla Porubek, and Caitlyn Donahue.  Two other Big 12 teams are in the top 25, Texas at #2, and Iowa State is #10.  One of the Cats’ non-conference opponents who they will see in the Tulsa Classic, Minnesota, is ranked #16.

K-State volleyball opens the 2012 season on Friday, August 24th against UC-Irvine at 7:30pm at Ahearn Fieldhouse.
