HOUSTON (AP)   The city of Houston has submitted a bid to host the new Big 12-Southeastern Conference bowl dubbed the “Champions Bowl” and join the rotation for semifinal games in college football’s upcoming playoff system.  Reliant Stadium has hosted a bowl game, currently the Meineke Car Care Bowl, since 2006.  The Champions Bowl and college football’s four-team playoff will begin in the 2014 season.  According to reports, other cities that plan to bid on the package are Arlington (Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Cotton Bowl), San Antonio (Alamodome, Alamo Bowl), New Orleans (Superdome, Sugar Bowl), and Atlanta (Georgia Dome, Chick-fil-a Bowl).
