Kaitlynn Pelger and Lilla Porubek combined for 41 kills as #22 K-State rallied past Oregon State in the final match of the Varney’s KSU Invitational Saturday night at Ahearn Fieldhouse, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-8.  The Cats were staring down their first defeat of the season after falling behind the Beavers 18-14 in the fourth set, but outscored OSU 11-5 to even the match.  K-State broke a tie at five in the final frame, before scoring six consecutive points to take control en route to the victory.  Setter Caitlyn Donahue had her second double-double of the weekend with 59 assists and 15 digs, and was named tournament MVP.  The Cats had two other players on the all-tournament in Pelger and Porubek.  Courtney Traxson also tied a career high with 13 kills against the Beavers

K-State (3-0) will next see action at the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha hosted by Creighton University. The Wildcats face Denver Friday, August 31 at 3:30 p.m. before playing a pair of matches on Saturday, September 1 first against host Creighton and then Syracuse.  Pregame on Friday will be at 3:00pm on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN from Omaha with Rob Voelker.
