The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced a repair project on westbound US-24 over the Big Blue River Bridge at the east city limits of Manhattan in Pottawatomie County. Eastbound US-24 will remain open in that location and is not included in this project.

Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday. The project began earlier this week. Traffic was reduced to one lane over the westbound US-24 Bridge and will remain this way throughout the project duration. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones and there will be a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour.

Drivers should expect some delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.

And a two-phase replacement project is beginning on three K-18 Bridges located between the city of Wabaunsee and K-99 in Wabaunsee County. Project work began Thursday and includes replacement of the existing bridge structures

Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.Eastbound and westbound K-18 will be closed for these three bridge replacements with the two bridges closest to K-99 being replaced first.

On Monday, September 10, eastbound and westbound K-18 will be closed approximately one mile east of the city of Wabaunsee to K-99 to replace the two bridges closest to K-99. A marked detour will be provided.

See the K-18 bridge replacement project detour map here.
