    Reception for Asst. City Manager Candidates

    A public reception for finalists for the position of Assistant City Manager for the City of Manhattan will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 in the City Commission Room and Foyer in City Hall, 1101 Poyntz Ave. Each candidate will provide a brief introductory statement followed by informal introductions and questions. The reception is hosted by the City of Manhattan, and members of the public are invited to attend and visit with the candidates.
    The City of Manhattan is pleased to announce four finalists for the position of Assistant City Manager (in alphabetical order by last name):
    • Kiel Mangus — Mr. Mangus is currently Director of Public Works in the Town of Frederic, Colorado. His previous position was as Assistant to the City Administrator at the City of Goddard, Kansas. He served as Economic Development Intern at the City of Derby, Kansas, during completion of his Master of Public Administration degree from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Mangus also obtained graduate school certificates in City/County Management and Public Finance.
    • Jamie Shockley — Ms. Shockley is currently Strategic Communications Analyst with the City of Olathe Public Works Department. Her previous position was as International City Management Association Local Government Management Fellow, also with the City of Olathe. She received the Early Career Excellence Award from the Kansas Association of City/County Management in December 2013. Ms. Shockley obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.
    • Cody Sims — Mr. Sims is currently the Director of Economic Development/Assistant to the City Manager in Wellington, Kansas. His roles include Zoning Administrator, Grant Administrator and overseeing Engineering/Planning and Zoning/Code Compliance. He previously served as Assistant to the City Manager/Management Intern in the City of Bel Aire, Kansas. Mr. Sims obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas.
    • Jacob Wood — Mr. Wood is currently the City Administrator for the City of Oakley, Kansas. He previously served as Interim Bicentennial Manager in Salina, Kansas. He also served as both Finance Department Intern and Management Intern for the City of Salina. Mr. Wood obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from Kansas State University.
