By KMAN Staff on September 9, 2012 Big 12 Sports, K-State Sports

The nation took notice when K-State throttled Miami 52-13 on Saturday, and the Cats have risen up the ranks in both the AP and Coaches’ poll.  K-State jumps six spots in both surveys, and the Cats are now #14 according to the coaches, and the media has voted them #15.  In the AP poll, Oklahoma is now tied with Florida State at #5 as the Sooners beat Florida A&M 69-13 on Saturday.  West Virginia remains #9 in the country after an open date.  Texas is ranked #14, just ahead of K-State, as the Longhorns shut out New Mexico 45-0.  TCU is just behind the Cats at #16 after the Horned Frogs blanked Grambling State 56-0.  Oklahoma State dropped out of the poll following their 59-38 loss at Arizona.  The Cowboys are still receiving votes in the AP poll, along with Baylor and Iowa State.

The Cats will battle North Texas this Saturday in their final non-conference tilt at 6:00pm at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.  Powercat Gameday will begin at 2:00 on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock with Matt Walters, John Kurtz and Corey Dean as they’ll be joined by Wildcat legends Kevin Lockett and Dirk Ochs.
