A roll-over accident caused by a distracted driver caused a slight delay on Fort Riley Blvd and a trip to the hospital.
As KMAN news previously announced on Saturday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a roll-over accident occured on Fort Riley Blvd and Scenic Drive, near Stagg Hill.
Riley County police say Hannah Byun (18) of Junction City, was driving her 2006 Pontiac G6 Eastbound on Fort Riley Blvd. She was attempting to change the song on her iphone when she swerved to miss a traffic cone. She overcompensated, and clipped a 2000 GMC Yukon driven by Michael Packer (48), also of Junction City. Byun’s car then swerved into the construction zone and rolled over.
Byun was transported to Mercy regional health center to be treated for neck pain and a possible concussion where she was treated and released.. She was cited for inattentive driving. Traffic on Fort Riley Blvd. was delayed for about thirty minutes while the accident was cleared.

A residential burglary results in a loss of 15-hundred dollars.
On September 5, 2012 between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., a local home was burglarized resulting in the lose of tools and other objects. Dwight Hamilton (56), of 814 Freemont St. in Manhattan reports that on that date, someone entered his home and removed from the premises a DeWalt cordless impact drill, a reciprocating saw, and a green treck bike. Total lose is $1,500.
There is a suspect in this case and police are currently investigating.

A local business experiences a break in, resulting in the lose of hair products.
Sometime between September 7th at 11:00 p.m. and September 8th at 7:00 a.m., an unknown perpetrator entered a local beauty supply store and removed a great deal of hair products.
Linde Beauty, located at 114 Fourth street in Manhattan reports that taken in the burglary were two mannequin heads, thirty hair extensions, and one ponytail wig. The stolen products are worth $2,880.

A weekend vehicle burglary affects an out of town guest.
Casey Geis (24) of Kansas City reports that sometime over the weekend, someone entered his vehicle and removed several items from it. Items taken included a white pipeline auxilary cord, a Radio Shack power converter, and a Kenwood handheld radio. Total loss is said to be about $1,100.

A Manhattan resident gets a bit of a surprise when she returns home.
Rebecca Kapper (27), of Manhattan, was absent from her home on 613 Riley lane from August 7, 2012 to September 9,2012. When she returned, she saw signs that someone had been living there without her permission while she had been gone.
Kapper also reports that there were items missing from her home. Missing are a 32′ television, four boxes of DVDs, five Wii video games, a Playstation 3 video game system and two controllers, ten boxes of womens clothing, and miscellaneous decorations. Total lose of property is $9,790.

Sometime between August 31 and September 3rd, a residential burglary occured at the home of Robert Sager, 1919 Poyntz ave.
Sager reports that two doors were damaged in the break in and stolen were a Rolex watch valued at $8000 and $400 in cash. The damage to the two doors amounted to $400.

An attempted robbery involving a weapon results in no loss.
Riley County Police reported Monday that this past Saturday at approximately 2:15 a.m., a local couple reported they were the victims of an attempted robbery. Kirk Logan (22) and Kathryn Wartell (25), both of Manhattan, told Riley County Police they were walking northbound on 11th st when they were approached by a black male wearing baggy pants and a baggy, over sized hoodie.
The suspect reportedly pointed a gun at the couple and demanded they empty their pockets. Logan told him they had no money and the suspect fled southbound on 11th street. No loss was reported.

30 year old Kevin Harbaugh was arrested late last week on a failure to appear charge. Manhattan police reported Monday that Harbaugh was arrested on Friday night at approximately 6:30. He posted a 75-thousand dollar bond and was released.The original charge was not given.
