Nino Williams scored 14 points as the K-State men’s basketball team made their season debut with a 81-61 exhibition victory over Washburn on Tuesday night at Bramlage Coliseum. Jordan Henriquez also chipped in with 13 points, as both he and Williams also grabbed nine rebounds. Rodney McGruder and freshman DJ Johnson each added 10 points.

The Cats started the game on a 22-2 run and never looked back as every player on the roster saw minutes. One surprise was Thomas Gipson didn’t play until the final seven minutes of the game. Washburn was led in scoring by Will McNeill with 12 points.

K-State will play their second and final exhbition game on Sunday against Emporia State.  Tipoff will be at 1:00pm, and coverage from the K-State Sports Network will begin at noon on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN.
