    There’s a new event center in the works that would take up the corner of 12th and Laramie streets in Manhattan, and an update came through about the status of the building plans this week. Rob Hayes, President of Stan Hayes Enterprises says he’s tweaking a few things in order to conform to set cost standards. Bids came in a bit higher than he anticipated so plans are to tweak the design” to get to a more reasonable project cost.”
    Hayes says the “Aggieville Event Center” would be a flexible building,  allowing for small conventions, concerts, weddings, and even seasonal events. He adds the center would be strategically built to allow for vehicle entrance, which could provide opportunities for events such as farmer’s markets.
    Hayes mentioned there would be a rooftop feature with a capacity for 400 people, a kitchen and a lobby for renters to use.
    The event center is still in it’s planning stage, though it would be built at 12th and Laramie streets. Construction time from start to finish is estimated at approximately nine months.
