Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance Arrives Wednesday

By KMAN Staff on January 26, 2015 Local News, Manhattan, Riley County, Top Story

This Wednesday, January 28th, the Manhattan Public Library will host an open enrollment event for those needing questions answered about their health insurance options.

Public Affairs Specialist Julie Brookhart with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Kansas City regional office says they’re encouraging Manhattan residents to go to the open enrollment day to see what types of health insurance benefits they may qualify for.

Those who attend this event need to bring several documents with them, including household and family income information and social security numbers. For a complete list of personal information needed, Brookhart asks attendees to call 785-249-7933.

“If you still don’t have coverage, and want to find peace of mind, and you’d like to see if you qualify for a low premium because of your income, I would encourage you to come out to the enrollment event.”

Brookhart also says everyone starting in 2014 needs to have proof of insurance, proof of exemption or pay a fine. Enrollment at the library will run from 1:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, though Brookhart says the market for registration closes on February 15th.
