Felony sex charges could be waiting for a Manhattan man who was picked up on a warrant in Tulsa earlier this week.

On Thursday, Riley County police arrested 55-year old Rodney Richardson of 1343 Flinthills Place on charges of taking aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

The incident which led to the warrant involved an 11-year old girl with whom Richardson was familiar.

The incident occurred on August 6 of this year but wasn’t reported until August 9. Riley District Court granted the warrant on October 7.

Richardson remains confined in Riley County jail on a $25,000 bond.

A Manhattan woman is out nearly six figures after being scammed by a phony lottery company.

The victim, 84-year old Doris Hofman, began sending money overseas to the fictitious Global International Sweepstakes Lottery Company after receiving a letter saying she had won a vehicle.

The installments were sent beginning June 15 of this year and weren’t stopped until December 22.

The total loss came to (roughly) $80,000.

RCPD representatives say they are investigating the case.

Riley County police are investigating a home burglary that took place Thursday afternoon.

The victim, 29-year old Daniel Munford, told RCPD on Thursday that over $7,000-worth of items were taken from his home located in the 700 block of Allison Dr.

According to Munford, the burglary occurred sometime between noon and 4 p.m.

Items taken from Munford’s home include a television, PlayStation and games, clothing, a MacBook Pro laptop, 9 mm handgun, Nintendo Wii, and a jewelry box. The burglar did not use force to enter Munford’s home.

RCPD representatives say there are no suspects at this time.
