The Manhattan High wrestling won its first Centennial League title in four years on Saturday at Highland Park.  The Indians scored 190.5 points, easily outdistancing second place Junction City (156 pts), and Emporia (133 pts) in third.  MHS crowned four champions:  Davis Matthews (145 lbs), Brian Wood (170 lbs), Lee Suggs (195 lbs), and Deion Parker (220 lbs).  The Tribe had four other wrestlers finish second, one in third, and two more in fourth.  MHS will now wrestle in the 6A regional meet this Saturday at Derby.  The tournament will start at 9:00am, and reports can be heard throughout the day on KMAN.

The Rock Creek wrestlers crowned three champions at the Mid-East League Tournament, which was a bracket format for the first time.  The Mustangs’ Marc Reiss (120 lbs), Sam Wilson (138 lbs), and Trevor Sutton (170 lbs) all reached the top of the medal stand.  Rock Creek finished second as a team in the eight-team event, which adds Onaga and Burlingame to the field for the six-team league.  Silver Lake won the meet, Onaga was third, and Riley County came in fourth.

The Wamego wrestlers were also third at the Chase County Tournament on Saturday.  Jacob Dietrich (113 lbs) and Kyle Wilson (132 lbs) won individual titles for the Red Raiders.
