K-State will welcome in Arkansas, Bryant and Wichita State to the first ever NCAA baseball regional in Manhattan this weekend. The Wildcats are the number one seed in the regional, and will face fourth seeded Wichita State on Friday at 2:00 PM. The game will be televised on ESPNU. You can also hear the game on Sports Radio 1350 KMAN. K-State finally got a game of baseball in at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, and the Wildcats took advantage with a 4-3 win over Texas Tech. The Big 12 tournament was delayed a day because of the tragedy in nearby Moore, Oklahoma, and bad weather delayed the action on Thursday for nearly three hours. The Wildcats did just enough to get to Tech ace Trey Masek, who suffered a loss for just the second time this season, and held off the Red Raiders thanks to a stellar effort from the K-State bullpen. Arthur Brown has signed a four-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Brown was a second round draft pick of the Ravens, and is the highest Baltimore draft pick to sign with the team. According to the Ravens team site, Brown will miss the next four to six weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery. He did take part in rookie minicamp earlier this month. The Ravens will likely look to Brown to replace former middle linebacker Ray Lewis who retired after the 2012 NFL season. K-State dominated the Big 12 postseason awards with seven first team All-Big 12 selections and four individual award winners. Brad Hill picked up his second Big 12 Coach of the Year award after leading K-State to it’s first league championship since 1933. Hill also won the award in 2009 after taking the program to it’s first ever NCAA regional. The Wildcats are pegged 15th by Baseball America and are ranked 17th in the Coaches Poll, Perfect Game USA’s Top 25 and Collegiate Baseball’s Top 25. K-State missed out on it’s chance to sweep Oklahoma for the first time since 1990 in a 7-3 loss Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats outhit the Sooners 14 to 7, but stranded 13 base runners in the final game of the weekend series.
