The Kansas City Star reports that former K-State fullback Braden Wilson has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson was a sixth round draft pick of the Chiefs and is now the fourth pick to sign with the team. He started 27 games in his K-State career and appeared in 51 games. “I thought he was the best blocking fullback in the draft,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told KC Chiefs.com. K-State will host Mississippi on December 5th this season as part of the Big 12/SEC challenge. This will be the first challenge for the Big 12 since a four-year series with the Pac-10 from 2007-10. The Rebels went 27-9 last year while winning the SEC tournament and advancing to the third round of the NCAA tournament. Despite going undrafted, Meshak Williams will head to Ravens training camp this summer after signing a free agent deal with the Super Bowl champs. The Baltimore Ravens official website lists Williams as one of four undrafted rookies to sign with the team after this past weekend’s rookie camp. Williams played defensive end at K-State, but is listed as an outside linebacker for the Ravens. He was second in the Big 12 last year with eight and a half sacks during his senior season. The nation took notice of K-State’s three game sweep of Kansas this weekend. The Wildcats made the jump into multiple top 25 polls heading into the final Big 12 series of the year against Oklahoma. Check one more milestone off the list for K-State senior high jumper Erik Kynard. With a jump of 2.26 meters (7-05.00), Kynard broke the R.V. Christian Track Complex facility record in the men’s high jump Saturday during the Ward Haylett Invitational in Manhattan. The previous record was 2.24 meters (7-04.50) held by former Olympian Ed Broxterman. That record had stood since 1998. Kynard also received the Heartbeat of the Team Award from the 299th Brigade Support Battalion, the track and field team’s partner unit from Fort Riley. K-State will play Tulane at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on December 28th as part of the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival. The game will be second of a triple header scheduled for the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival. Bruce Weber and K-State have announced the addition of Maine transfer Justin Edwards to the Wildcats program. Edwards is a 6-4, 180 pound guard who led the America East in scoring this past season by racking up 16.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
