Two weeks ago, no football team in the country had a longer streak of success when leading at halftime than Kansas State. After the Wildcats’ second straight loss in such fashion, that streak is a distant memory. K-State fell to No. 2 TCU, 52-45, Saturday night at Bill Snyder Family Stadium after hitting the locker room with an 18-point lead. Star Wars fanatics of all ages participated in the Manhattan Library’s “Star Wars Reads Day” early Saturday afternoon. Fans of the films dressed as their favorite characters and participated in crafts and activities including Star Wars Trivia, a Yoda ears creation station, and selfie photo booths with costumed characters. Innovation and inspiration. The “most ambitious” fundraising project in Kansas State University history, has been unveiled by Univeristy President, Kirk Schulz. Having already been up and running, behind the scenes for 5 years, the fundraising initiative will continue to advance the goals of the land grant university’s 2025 plan. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A 32-year-old Wichita woman has been charged in federal court with sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office says Natasha Harper was charged Friday with one count of providing the girl for commercial sex. Court documents say Harper was arrested in a sting operation conducted by the Wichita Police Department. Officers arranged for the teenager to meet them Thursday at a local hotel and arrested Harper when she brought the girl there. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) The latest government forecast for fall crops in Kansas is mostly upbeat in its production estimates. The National Agricultural Statistics Service reported Friday that it anticipates the state will harvest 566 million bushels of corn this year. That is down just slightly from a year ago. The agency anticipates 3.85 million acres of corn will be cut in the state this year, with average yields forecast at 147 bushels per acre. PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) A southeast Kansas special education teacher has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery involving a 15-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy, is blind and confined to a wheelchair. The Pittsburg Morning Sun reports Matthew Ward DeMoss was sentenced Thursday to three months in jail for the Jan. 15 incident in Pittsburg. The sentence was suspended and DeMoss was placed on unsupervised probation for a year and ordered to write a letter of apology to the victim. A Leonardville man was arrested Friday night on a bond of $16,000.00. 27-year-old Thomas Robert Shannon Booth was taken into custody on one count of unlawful possession of stimulants, one count of failure to appear, and 1 count of use or possession of paraphernalia. Booth remains confined to the Riley County Jail. ### A Clay Center man found himself in police custody, after violating a protection order against him.  41-year-old Jason Kahrs was arrested by Riley County Police Friday evening, on one count of stalking and five counts of violation of a protection order.
