HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A woman has been arrested in connection to the death of a Hutchinson woman whose body was found in a creek bed in Reno County. According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say the body of 38-year-old Mary Ann Arnett was found June 22 in a shallow creek south of Nickerson. The suspect faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. She is being held in the Reno County Correctional Facility on a bond of $500,000.

That word from Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, who tells MSC News 19-year-old Terell Dixon was arrested in Henry County, Missouri mid-day Thursday. He remains jailed in that jurisdiction, held on an Atchison County District Court Warrant charging him with 2nd degree murder. AP-KS–Wichita-Marijuana WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Kansas’s highest court is considering the legality of Wichita’s marijuana ordinance next week. Oral arguments are set for Sept. 17 in Topeka in the legal challenge brought by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt. At issue is the state’s effort to invalidate a voter-approved ordinance in Wichita lessening criminal penalties for possessing small amounts of marijuana. Among the issues the Kansas Supreme Court will consider is whether the ordinance conflicts with state law. Also at issue is whether the ordinance was filed properly. Updated 10:45 a.m.: A Manhattan man arrested Wednesday night is apparently connected with the series of robberies announced by Riley County Police last Friday. As KMAN announced earlier Thursday morning,  Sean Johnson, 20, was taken into custody at about seven p.m. Wednesday while at the Riley County Police Department. Johnson’s bond has been set at 150-thousand dollars. A news release from RCPD from Thursday morning reminds us in the early morning hours Friday, a series of Robberies and a Theft were reported in the central portion of Manhattan.
