OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)– Marcus Peters and Tyvon Branch made the Oakland Coliseum feel just like home. Peters, an Oakland native who grew up attending Raiders games, set up Kansas City’s go-ahead score with an interception and former Oakland safety Tyvon Branch put the game away with an interception return for a touchdown that gave the Chiefs their sixth straight win, 34-20 on Sunday. “It was a whole lot more than I expected,” said Peters, who gave the ball from his interception to his mother. “It was hard, man, I can’t lie, to come out there and stay focused. After three months of the most emotionally turbulent football in years for Kansas State, the Wildcats’ resilience was rewarded Sunday as K-State accepted an invitation from the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. It took three straight wins down the stretch for K-State (6-6) to reach traditional bowl eligibility, which the Wildcats were determined to achieve, rather than be one of three 5-7 teams to receive a bid. “We wanted to do this the right way,” senior defensive lineman Travis Britz said. “We don’t make excuses for ourselves. We wanted to earn a bowl.” Saturday night’s 24-23 victory over…

A K-State Football Player landed behind bars over the weekend. Sophomore defensive back, Kaleb Prewett was arrested in Manhattan on Sunday morning – on the charge of consumption and purchase of liquor by a minor. The 20-year-old Prewett was arrested just after 1:00 a.m., in the 1600 block of Fairchild Avenue. A statement by the university has not been released – likely adhering to K-State policy that sees that all arrests are handled internally by the school. The football player was released on a $500.00 bond, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Thanks to receiver-turned-quarterback Kody Cook and yet another kickoff return touchdown by Morgan Burns, K-State rallied to defeat West Virginia, 24-23, on Senior Day at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The Wildcats finished the regular season 6-6. “The fight and the spirit, that never give up attitude, those are the things that I’ll remember most from this season,” Snyder said. “Having to come back in two out of…
