The first day of the 2015 Kicker Country Stampede is in the books. Rain showers that had been forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening held off until well after headliner Thomas Rhett finished his show. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a 2011 Polaris Ranger 500 UTV (side by side) off road vehicle. The victim reported last Saturday that sometime between May 1st and May 20th an unknown person or persons stole the UTV from a location on Sales Road in rural Westmoreland. The Ranger is described as being a stock model with red paint and black trim, roll cage and black wheels. There is also a yellow “CAT” decal on an unknown location of the body. Update 7/13/15 Tierre Wall of Fort Riley appeared in court Monday morning for a status hearing. Wall asked Judge David Stutzman to appoint him an attorney. This comes after Wall requested to hire his own attorney at his last court appearance on June 25th. Wall and his attorney at the time, Mark Dinkel said there was a breakdown in communication between the two. Another status hearing is scheduled for August 10th. Emergency crews responded to a single motorcycle collision near the intersection of Observation Point and Tuttle Cove Road near Manhattan on Wednesday at approximately 8:35 PM. Responding officers found that a 2008 Kawasaki Motorcycle driven by Kong Nguyen, 25, of Junction City, Kansas left the roadway and collided with a guardrail. Nguyen was ejected and received injury, causing him to be transported to Via Christi for treatment. Junghyun Park, 23, of Manhattan became the victim of theft after her purse and its contents were stolen early Wednesday morning.
