The Wamego City Commission approves the Columbian Theatre maintenance agreement. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page reviewed the presentation from the last meeting where he asked Architect Bruce McMillan for a cost estimate if the work was done in phases. McMillan brought the numbers back, and they reflected a 11 ½ per cent increase to perform the required maintenance in phases. KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP)– Yordano Ventura, Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis combined on a four-hitter and the Kansas City Royals beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Royals, who beat the New York Yankees 6-0 on Sunday, logged consecutive shutouts for the first time since Sept. 29-30, 1992, when Dennis Rasmussen and Rick Reed blanked the California Angels. On Tuesday night the Manhattan City commission added a new addition to the official Manhattan historical registry. Commissioners voted to accept the Jesse Ingraham house onto the register.  Experts say keys to eligibility is in the registry are historic significance, historic integrity, and historical context.  Any change to the structure of the house would have to go before the historical review board.  1724 Fairchild avenue is now listed on the Manhattan historical registry. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The Kansas Legislature approved compromise regulations Tuesday that ride-hailing company Uber said will allow it to stay in the state. Large majorities in both chambers voted for the bill, sending it to the governor on a day in which he signed a bill defining fantasy sports as legal and the House shelved a bill seeking to revive a Kansas City, Kansas, dog and horse racing park. A resurfacing project will begin tomorrow on a 5.61-mile portion of U.S. 24 from the K-177 junction north to the K-13 junction in Manhattan. Project work includes a 3-inch mill and overlay through the concrete portion of U.S. 24, stretching from the mall entrance to the water plan, and a 5-inch mill and overlay on the asphalt portion, stretching from the water plant to the K-13 junction. Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton has called on the State Department to release e-mails sent from a server used when she was Secretary of State. However, with over 55,000 pages of material to go through, the State Department has said that most of those e-mails are not expected to be released until just before the Iowa caucuses next January.

The man charged in connection with the shooting incident in Aggieville earlier this month appeared in Riley County District Court via web cam on Tuesday afternoon. Mark Self Jr. appeared along side his attorney, Larry McRell.  McRell filed a motion to withdraw from the case due to a conflict of interest.  A relative of Self was present in Judge William Malcolm’s courtroom and stated he intended to hire outside counsel; Mark Bennett of Topeka.
