The K-State track and field continues to have a very busy offseason as members of the squad competed over the weekend at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Current volunteer assistant coaches Erik Kynard and Amanda Bingson highlighted the weekend for the K-State nation. Kynard went on the win his third career USA high jump title. He was the only athlete to clear the bar at 2.35 meters. He’s now won the high jump title in three straight National Championship meets dating back to last June. Kynard is currently ranked fourth in the world in the men’s high jump.…

On Saturday at Rock Creek High School Republican candidates gathered to meet with the community, and outline their positions before the primary run off in August. Pottawatomie County Republican Women sponsored the event, and organization president Rosemary Loucks said it was important for voters and candidates to meet face to face.  Loucks said it is imperative that voters know where the candidates stand on the issues to make a more informed decision in the upcoming elections. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A misplay gave Omar Infante the chance to deliver another big hit against the Los Angeles Angels. Infante came through again, singling home the winning run with one out in the ninth inning that lifted the Kansas City Royals over the Angels 5-4 Sunday. Alex Gordon was hit by a pitch with one out in the Kansas City ninth. KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP) — Neither rain nor the Kansas City Royals could stop the Los Angeles Angels from winning again. Albert Pujols and David Freese combined to drive in five runs as the Angels beat the Royals 6-2 on Saturday for their seventh victory in eight games. There were two rain delays with the second after the fourth inning lasting 3:58. The game didn’t end until nearly 7 hours after it started. “We had a lot of waiting in between a baseball game,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Omar Infante told Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar that on a muggy night at Kauffman Stadium, with a stiff breeze blowing out to left field, any ball hit solidly would clear the fence. Infante never predicted that he’d hit one with the bases loaded.
